What we believe

What we are about!

.

I have been hard wired to reach out to the burned, bored, bypassed, and broken and as He has shaped my life it is clear that my skill set and gifting lies in this arena.  I know that I have been gifted to speak in a relational manner and that I seek to connect to the heart of each and every person.  Years ago I read something that Oswald Chambers wrote and paraphrased it as follows:  My job is to reach up and grab hold of the hand of God and then reach out with the other hand to grab onto someone else.  Then…I seek to draw the two together and when they connect…let go.  Then reach out for someone else.”

I think that describes me to a “T.”  As I reflected upon this I also decided to go through the New Testament and find those places that have served as foundational points in my life.  I tried to get at the bedrock and here is the list that I have come up with at present.

  1. It is all about God.  Acts 4:27, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  Romans 5:19 tells us that sin came through Adam to all mankind and salvation came through Jesus for all.
  2. We are all Imperfect.  Romans 3:23, “All have sinned.”
  3. Love is the key.  Matthew 22:37-39, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  4. We are safe.  Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  1 John 4:4, “For He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
  5. We have a job to do.  Romans 15:20, “I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation.”  Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.”  Mark 2:17, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”  Luke 5:32, “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”  Luke 10:2, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”  Acts 26: 17-18, “I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God…”  Matthew 28:19-20, “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you….”
  6. God works in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit TODAY.  Colossians 4:3, “Pray that God may open to us a door.”  Mark 16:20, “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.”  Acts 1:8, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.”
